All You Need to Know About Power BI

INTRODUCTION

Power BI enables organizations to access, explore and visualize data in real-time. The platform helps you get the most out of your data so that you can make smarter business decisions at the click of a button. But what exactly is Power BI? Here’s everything you need to know about it, including its top features, potential applications, power efficiency and more...

What is it?

Power BI is a platform for visualizing data and understanding what it can tell you about your business. It allows for fast, flexible, and powerful exploration of data with intuitive visualizations that make it easy to ask questions and get answers. Plus, it's free! The first thing you'll do when creating a new report in Power BI Desktop is connected to the data.
When opening up the database menu, there are four options:
- From SQL Server
- From Microsoft Azure SQL Database
- From Other Data Sources
- Importing an Excel file into Power Query is as simple as typing in a URL or dragging and dropping. Once imported, the spreadsheet will open right alongside all of the other tables available to you.
- To use these features, users need only click on Manage Queries from the tab bar and then select New Queries from the dropdown list.

What does it do?

Power BI is a suite of business analytics tools that helps you explore, visualize and understand your data. With PowerBI, you can easily upload and analyze almost any data set with a few clicks. Once you've got your data in place, you can create interactive dashboards to share with your team or the world. It's like Google Analytics for your organization. Power BI lets you monitor how different audiences are responding to your content by looking at their click-through rates on social media, what content they're viewing on your site and which parts of your site they visit most often. With this information at hand, you'll be able to tweak the way that you publish the content accordingly. If some piece of content isn't performing as well as it should, maybe you should rethink its placement on the site or consider publishing more related pieces. If people are clicking too much on one particular link, then it might be worth making sure it's prominently displayed where people will see it so that they continue to go back for more. The same goes for any other areas of the site where people seem to get stuck.

Who can use it?

Power BI is a suite of business intelligence tools that can be utilized by anyone who has data. The tools are available for both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems, in addition to mobile apps for iOS and Android. It provides all kinds of options for data visualization, including mapping and geospatial visualization. In fact, it’s one of the few tools on the market that allows you to easily publish your visualizations online so they can be viewed by other people without any programming skills required. And lastly, with its close integration with Excel, it’s also possible to use Power BI as an analysis tool from within Excel itself (or Office 365). When you're ready to move beyond the free version, there are three different pricing tiers:

- Basic: $5 per user per month
- Standard: $10 per user per month
- Premium: $15 per user per month

How can you start using it?

To start using power BI, you need to download it from the Microsoft store. Once you have downloaded it, you can sign in with a free account and then select the data set that you would like to analyze.
Once your data is loaded up, you will be able to do some basic analysis. However, if you want more advanced features such as dashboards or visuals, they will cost extra. There are three different pricing plans for those who want to use these premium features: A monthly subscription of $9.99 USD, a quarterly subscription of $29.99 USD, or an annual subscription of $199.99 USD. What else should I know?: If you're interested in learning more about how to use this program, there are many tutorials on YouTube that can help teach you how to get started. One tutorial includes the following topics:

Where do I get it?

Power BI is an online, self-service business intelligence tool that is part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite. It's available in all Office 365 plans, and you can get it with a monthly or annual subscription. If you're already a member of Office 365 but don't have Power BI yet, just click on Set up when you log in and follow the steps.
What if I'm not using Office 365?: If you're not using Office 365 then power BI is still free to use through your work or school account. You'll need to verify your email address before logging into power bi so that they know where to send updates about security issues and product changes. The first thing that you'll see after signing in is your dashboard. Your dashboard contains tiles for all of the reports and visualizations that are important to you right now. The more data sources, reports, and dashboards that you connect, the more tiles will appear here for easy access.
